Buying a Boat after CV19 Lockdown

Agreed. Also I will be paying cash with no timelines for finance. Seems the Dealer Stock Boat is the best option to go for rather than a private owner who is in no rush to sell.

Be careful. May get best perceived 'deal' on a boat but not best boat. Dealers dont care about fixing things once deal done or any warranty period gone. As comment above, well maintained privately owned boat is worth a bit extra. Good hunting

A boat is just collection of things waiting to go wrong or break, moving along in loose formation, new or secondhand.**
Once folk accept this, they might start to realise what boating is actually really all about ?

Who's going to cook your dinner and do the vacuuming?

There is a mysterious package in the cupboard under the stairs, been there since 1973, , still in the unopened box with rather faded labels suggesting it was a wedding present.
Pretty sure its a Hoover of some description.

Might also be an iron in there somehwere.

I don't know anyone who is desperately wanting to sell their boat .
The boat is for many the antidote to the stresses of everyday working life so it is even more important now than it ever was.

Are you sure its Hoover as it might be Hover and thats a lawn mower.

If its a vacuum cleaner then stay away, they are confusing as apparently women design them now, big mistake, if men designed them they would have a big green switch for on and a big red switch for off, but no, she was rushed into hospital last year and I tried ours, lots of pink switches so I pressed one and it fell to bits, pressed another and it broke in two so I gave up and rang daughter and told her to bring her vacuum round and vacuum for me, much easier but I got a bollocking when she opened the cupboard and found her vacuum in bits.

Why does my washing machine look like something out of NASA launch control ?.
Gave up in the end.

What made you think we need reminding of this???‍♂️?‍♂️

I might not be entirely typical, but I have just completed on a dealer stock new boat at what I think is a stonkingly good price. I'm unable to take possession but have taken legal ownership... there are deals out there. Is this typical. No idea. Does it suit me. Well, a qualified yes...

About like ours then, I cheated and got daughter to do the washing in her machine instead, I did find out it is a German machine and thought "give me an old car or lorry instead" and I will be happy.

I thought a cold cycle is a bike ride on low temperatures.

There was an interesting post on our owners club Facebook page where someone had their boat up for sale prior to the Covid outbreak and had quite a low response. But since the crisis has taken hold they've had an increasing amount of interest. One of the reasons suggested is travelling abroad may become more problematic and having a holiday base in your home country by way of a boat is looking more attractive.
Early days and a lot can change obviously, but I can see it's a possibility.

Could you share some details?

There might be something in this.

To be fair, a crystal ball is required to have any chance of predicting what the impact of the Covid crisis will be on the boat market but I wonder whether it will be a mixed picture, with some unfortunately in financial difficulties and needing to sell, but with an underlying demand because foreign holiday options may be less available.

Only time will tell but one thing is for sure, our S34 won’t go unless we are confident that we can replace it because the worst of all worlds would be no boat at all!
