I'm going to Cherbourg and the Channel Islands next week. Is it worth hanging on and buying my new autopilt there. If so, any recommendations as to where please?

I have just fitted one of these and I'm having a few issues with it, so far the level of support from Raymarine has been somewhat underwhelming but I persevere....

I would buy in the UK, easier to sort out problems if they arise.

Strictly, anything brought back from the CI (above a certain value) is liable to be charged VAT on import back to the UK. If it is still in a box, difficult to argue you didn't buy it over there.

I would fit it there, essential running repairs, safety issue! Honest Guv.
