hi all
and thanks to everyone for their help, support, advice and interest,in my search for my first "proper" vessel
sorry for only leaving half a tale, so here it is in full!
took family away for easter break as a sweetner for all the disappointments of the past 5 months, with a promise not to drag them about looking at boats. Had a look at a couple on my own, again most were filthy nightmares, with over optimistic prices, apart from one, which turned out to be the type of boat i first looked at, took girls to see, they liked, owner took us for a spin up river, all o.k ,so bottom line is i arranged for lift out, bottom clean, survey, and road transport to home all for saturday, brilliant was easy!!!!!!!Then i realised that the bulk of our money for the purchase was in the building society, which is a welsh society, so is only local, and we did not have the pass book, the thought of a seven hour round trip to get the cash was not one i relished, so a couple of phone calls, etc, etc a letter of authority,a bankers draft duly arrived at holiday destination friday midday brilliant!!!!
so saturday morning came got mugged by marina! then by surveyor!then by haulage contractor!! then by petrol station as i decided to fill up tank so i didn't have to run around with fuel cans for petrol next week when she goes back in the water, and finally the marina again, so all is well.?? Have spent 2 days emptying boat of all sorts of "might come in handy" sort of stuff, swmbo has organised the recovering of soft furnishings, etc i'm busy with anti -fouling etc. So, sorry folks no regalling stories of dare devil feats, and tempestuous waters on this occasion, soon maybe!!

Oh!! by the way she is a fairline fury 26ft mkII (single volvo penta AQ130) currently un-named any suggestions??
regards to all
julian

My swmbo says you should call the new boat SWMBO what do you think?
At least she has an opinion which is quite rare

Definitely worth several thousand brownie points to name boat after the wife. Not a good idea to name her after the mistress. Whatever you choose, just remember you'll be using the name on the VHF so what sounded comical in the pub might sound ludicrous over the airwaves

How about "Skint" or "Julians Mistress"!

On the subject of boat names, how about "Ca Suffit!" Spotted on a little blue home made vessel in Antibes Harbour - Sums it all up for me I think!

Have you got a picture of the boat to post on here ? I must take one...for those who have never seen the boat the irony in the name is magic.. and given what it is moored close to ....maybe TCM has a picture..???

Re: Ca Sufffit

I don't have a piccie, but I must admit to giving it a little smile every time I pass(not as often now I have my own boat) - Somebody must love it.
