Busy bank holiday?

I've been so busy, I didn't think ahead to the late May bank holiday. And it's looking like good weather - 20/21°C in the Solent.

By noon on Thursday, 'Booking.com' was showing only one hotel left on the Isle of Wight, £940 for two nights, and Red Funnel is booked solid.

I have a sense this may be the craziest, busiest bank holiday for a long time.

If I still had the yacht, this would be time to be smug...although when we sailed over last July, there was no single marina berth available so we turned round and sailed home. I'm going to do some long-delayed leisurely woodwork outside and I've booked restaurant tables for Saturday and Sunday nights.

Anyone got any grand plans?

Modest family get together at our son's house ....we last went there for Christmas 2019 when there were 12 of us. This time probably 6. We'll stay overnight and return home by the slow scenic route through deepest Suffolk on the Monday. Happy days.

I was a lovely day on the island yesterday - a trip to Yarmouth and then on to freshwater for quick snack at end of line which is a sort cycle ride from Yarmouth. All by car sadly having made a significant investment in wightlink - I’ve heard rumours a return is now touching £300 this weekend. We crossed a few days ago and had lovely views of the other carrier returning to Pompey as we enjoyed our expensive cruise on the st Clair. Just waiting for the iow council to introduce a congestion charge like Birmingham to keep down all these tourists Winnebago homes blocking the island roads .

Just walked the kids to school and the roads were dead, think everyone's started the Bank Holiday already..

Had a call from my son yesterday around 5. It was pretty dead on the M25 and North Circular. Dead stationary that is. He was not impressed. I hope everyone's got where they're going now, because I'm off to Brighton in a couple of hours.
