Tide height at the bridge at 11.00 on Friday 3rd is 2.39m and rising. What would the air-draft be at this time?

CD = 1.5 + 2.39 =3.89m depth of water
3.5 + 2.61 = 6.11 Vertical clearance
just remember that a low pressure, or lots of rain or strong southerly winds can mean there is more water than predicted.
there is a tide gauge on the Swanwick side of the river.

Will keep a look out for the gauge.
Southampton Water is know showing over 5’ waves and high wind gusts but it varies between web sites. May have to postpone until Saturday. Unless you know of better weather info. I’m taking a couple mates out for the first time on my new boat to me. Just for a short trip from Shamrock to Hamble for lunch but only if it’s a comfortable and enjoyable trip. Then just a quick nose up the Hamble.
Still getting to grips with handling a larger boat so needs to be within my comfort zone.

Don’t bother going past the bridge! After 5 mins there’s not much water depth for a larger boat and not a great deal to see. More fun in a tender !!
just stop at Mercury’s , have lunch and a beer then poodle of back to shamrock !

I have to pass under the bridge every trip out. I have an air draft with my stub mast down of ~3.5m and I can get under (just !) on the very top of a 5m (HAT) tide. I use the tide gauge on the post on the stbd hand as the river approaches Swanwick just before Premier (Moody's) Marina.
With a forecast height of ~ 2.4m you are close to low water, and will have ~6m clearance at that time. Be aware the River can vary up to 0.5m in height over or under predicted height due to atmospheric conditions. I suggest you add 0.5m to your calculations.
Last week the tide height was predicted to go to 4.6m, yet the tide was way under my boat on the shore which means the tide was above the 5m level.
As you approach the bridge if you can see, even at quite an oblique angle, the underside of the bridge (assuming your eyes are the highest point) then you can get under. I always sound one prolonged blast as I approach if the clearance is becoming limited. Lots of canoes and paddle boards and the slight bend to the left means traffic approaching may not see you once you are committed. The small craft generally will get out of the way, but not a good place to meet a 50' boat coming the other way !

Probably worth mentioning the tidal stream down that stretch of the river, we're on Neaps at the moment so may not be as much of a concern.
