so best option is to stick to wooden boats? Treated wood (surprising for many) seems to withstand fire much better than steel and fiberglass...

Am I the only one to think the "Elephant in the room" question...
Boat on market for two years
Boat burns out
Man see running from the scene
= Insurance job?
Is it right to keep fishing around for muck ?
Its a petrol boat that has caught fire, they burst into flames all the time as they bomb around dont they ?
You guys sound like trained Insurance claims investigators looking for a reason why they shouldnt cough up.
Maybe the fishing rod was the only thing of value on the boat that he wanted to save![]()

Perhaps the guy who was running away was in fact totally innocent and simply fishing from the pontoon (possibly a frowned upon activity) when the boat burst in to flames!
Upon said boat bursting into flames he thought, bugger me, grabbed his fishing rod and scarpered in order to ensure that he did not join the boat by ending up in a ball of flames!!![]()
I think the answer will emerge eventually as to what happened, it's had too much publicity not to.
