Burnt out Searay

Its American which should be regarded as a fairly safe Bomb as far as bombs go, built under strict guidelines of the US coast guard.

Obviously if left primed and not shut down properly then it is just a ticking time bomb.

I apologise if my post utilizes the word Bomb excessively , it just sort of springs to mind when posting about Petrol Bombs, there it goes again I obviously meant Petrol Boats not petrol bombs .

It looks like the US coast guard guidelines saved a few boats from blast damage.

Am I the only one to think the "Elephant in the room" question...

Boat on market for two years
Boat burns out
Man see running from the scene
= Insurance job?

Then why the fishing rod? Or deliberate red herring? This guy's good... ;)

Obviously purely idle speculation, no basis in fact, opinion only and all that guff before the opinion police turn up :D

Cheers,

Jamie

Is it right to keep fishing around for muck ?

Its a petrol boat that has caught fire, they burst into flames all the time as they bomb around dont they ?

You guys sound like trained Insurance claims investigators looking for a reason why they shouldnt cough up.

Maybe the fishing rod was the only thing of value on the boat that he wanted to save

Perhaps the guy who was running away was in fact totally innocent and simply fishing from the pontoon (possibly a frowned upon activity) when the boat burst in to flames!

Upon said boat bursting into flames he thought, bugger me, grabbed his fishing rod and scarpered in order to ensure that he did not join the boat by ending up in a ball of flames!! :p:p

I thought the way insurance now works that it was the policyholders job to have an investigation into why the insurers should pay up, not the other way around...:D

Just to feed the story some more.....
This camera looks down the pontoon, with the searay on the right, at the end and out of view (except for the flames in the 2nd clip)

You would not want to any fish caught in Sutton Harbour, I think the rod was probably used a very good prop. Anyway, he left it (and any fish) behind when leaving the scene

You wouldn't be fishing down that end of Sutton Harbour anyway, if you were going to try for fish there would be better places to do it, especially with all the rigmarole of trying to get in there or the hassle of jumping onto the pontoon.

As for the petrol bomb stuff... doesn't really matter whether you're powered by petrol, diesel or wind if someone's trying to set you on fire!
