Does anyone have any actual knowledge of or an indication of burn rate. I do know that it depends on how clean its bum is, how old the engine is, how much weight is being carried as well as servicing et al. Therefore, if you have actual knowledge or links to info on rates then please let me know. I am not looking for a definitive rate but an indicative one. It has been suggested that at cruising speed around 23kn is around 160lph and at pootling speed around 8-10kn 40lph. It has also been suggested that 160 is high and more likely to be nearer 140lph.

Cheers guys.

Got the same boat with same engines. At cruise speed I'd budget 0.7mpg.
Pic below shows tech data for Tamd75 with fuel consumption curve. Note its in US gal/hr, but 2300rpm which approx 23+ knots is approx 34 gals/hr or 155 litres/hr.
Engines are a good match for the boat. With a clean hull and gear onboard what WOT speed do you achieve?

Thanks Jon, I haven't got it yet but have had offer accepted and if all goes well hopefully will be the proud owner soon. I had estimated from various anecdotes that it was likely to be 160 litres/hr and so pleased that this was abut right.

I don't supposed you know the best pottering mode speed for fuel consumption?

Cheers,

Derek

TAMD75P will give you 0.70 gallon per mile at around 23 knots. I had a P42 Fly for 5 years with those engines. Measured on a trip to and from the Channel Islands (carrying all the crap you tend to carry on a couple of weeks deployment!)......I calculated 0.68 per mile. Cracking engine if well maintained. Stbd Engine impellor a right b@st@“d to get at!. Bimbling around at 10 knots is very easy on those engines.......hard to measure what they used at that speed.......not worth measuring.

For this boat the displacement hull speed (not sure if thats the right terminology) works out to be 8 knots which is about 1000rpm, and as Noillusion says at this sort of speed fuel usage is minimal.

Good luck with the purchase, hope all goes well. Are you buying in the uk or from abroad, as I'm only aware of 2 for sale currently in the uk ?

All the boats around the 45-48 foot length with Volvo 74/75 do about the same mpg. You could look for a fairline phantom 47 with D9s but that will also do about the same mpg. With a clean hull maybe a bit better. I bought a sealine T50 on the premise it would be more fuel efficient, it was marginally but in the scheme of things forget it. I have learnt over the years that mpg is one thing on-going maintenance costs and depreciation are a lot more.

Top tip don't calculate mpg or cost per day, just enjoy it all. Pick a number for an overall budget you are happy with and just go with that. You can't put a price on those days out at anchor playing in the sea, or moored up in a beautiful location, going out for dinner, exploring a new harbour/ town and strolling back to your own boat. It's a unique experience that I have yet to find a better substitute. I only realised how many friends and family had enjoyed the experience when I decided to downsize a bit and get a smaller boat and were asked "can we still come along"

Appreciate the info and good wishes. I am buying in this country as makes logistic sense this year and over to the Med next year.

Cheers.

Thanks for the advice. We have chosen the boat and offer accepted.

I love the picture you paint, just how I envisage it.
