Bunk cushions needed for new boat! Don't have originals... Before i start with the stanley knife and cardboard for templates....( likely to be interesting ) .....any tips on size, shape type of foam etc ?

Many thanks

You can DIY, but be aware that it is difficult to get a professional finish unless you (or your mate if you have one) are pretty skilled. Foam and covering need to be fire retardent. There are many suppliers for example Hawk House and Toomer and Hayter who will give advice and supply materials.

If you lack the skills, this is one of the jobs where it is worth getting a professional and there are plenty of firms around who can do a good job. Best to find somebody local, not necessarily a marine specialist, although it helps as they have done it all before.

Thanks for the advice.

I have someone to make the covers ..the lady in question has done this task many times.

The foam i was going to buy from a local store where they will cut it to any size / shape.

Thanks for the tip about being fire retardent. Obvious but an easy one to forget !

Laminated foam

If the cushions are going to be say 4" thick, have 3" of hard foam and the top inch of memory foam or something similar. I'm not sure of the exact terminology but the idea ids the hard layer provides support and the soft layer comfort for sleeping
