I have rebuilt an old Bukh dv20.Everything has been renewed injectors included, although I'm not too sure about the correctness of the atomizing pattern.
I've been in contact with a reputable english dealer and he is as baffled as I am.The correct spill point(very fiddly) has been found, valve timing is right(double checked just in case.On inspection and again following the dealer's advice I found that the inj, pump has seen better days as the pistons don't slide easily down their bores as per the manual.I'm prepared to replace pistons and bores but before I go to that expense I'd like to hear some opinions. The simptoms are:excess smoke(white, definitely unburnt fuel) on startup wich sometimes clears up after a while.I get full acceleration but no power under load as if the thing is choking on it's own fuel. The regulator is perfect(checked and rebuilt) and the injection advance retard is ok. These simptoms cleared a bit after the latest fiddling but now I have the inj, pump out and scratching my head...

Not too sure if the Bukh dv20 has the same type of governor as the 10hp, it's a complex set of cones and an arm with spring.

A so called mechanic took ours apart to repair the arm and spring, no matter how hard and long he tried, it never started again after that.

So if you have taken this apart you will need some very experienced person to check it has been reassembled in the correct order with all the bits the right way round.

Avagoodweekend......

The governor is actually very simple, the problem lies usually with the stop solenoid. If it's screwed too far in there's not enough fuel for starting. 13 full turns in is the usual starting point. You'll find that if you unscrew it while the starter is being turned the engine will start. That wil be the apropriate positition for it.It varies slightly from engine to engine.

Im having the same issue with the white smoke(not steam). I added a shim to the injector and it cured it a little. Im just not sure which way to go now...Shims on the Injection pump valve or shims in the injectors.

Curious how you're issue worked out.
