I decided to bite the bullet and have our DV20ME water pump checked over and serviced. Have always found Al and Norman to be very helpful and quite happy to talk to a nervous first timer working on a diesel inboard.
Spent last week cleaning out all of the cack in the thermostat housing which will make a big difference as there was alot of crud in this area.
Al called today having looked at the water pump and confirmed that the back plate was indeed worn but well within servicing to put right along with a new bush, new seals and impellor etc well under half what a new pump would be.
So I am chuffed, can't wait to get it all installed and see the benefits... I hope!
