Hi, the starter belt on my DV10 has too much play and slips on the flywheel. I assume that adjusting the tension is the same as any old engine, loosen off the motor and the adjustment bolt and then move to get the correct tension? Any advice or tips?

There are various links to this
Dynastart was fitted to early engines.

Adjust in the usual way to give 3 to 5 mm deflection of the belt by firm thumb pressure ......... See Adjustment Of V-Belt - Bukh DV10 Workshop Manual [Page 58]

You have lifted the exhaust valve by operating the decompressor I trust?

If you dont decompress the engne the dynostart belt will most certainly slip.

I have to lift the decompressor every time! Poor old engine.
Reminds me of our shaft drive borehole pump with a Lister twin. 55 mtrs of shaft down the hole...
So, you had your Wheatabix, Lifted the two decompressors and started cranking, turning the whole gubbins. Gradually got it up to speed and dropped one decompressor, praying it would fire. If not, needed to sit down and admire the scenery before having another go...
Still, as soon as it got going, it lifted 75 cu mtrs an hour. Lot of water.
