I was thinking it would be handy to have something in a locker built in. Anyone done this. I see scanmar sell a very expensive one and there are very cheap ones on Amazon/ebay. Last time I tried the cheap ones they were very noisy. Any advice and recommendations out there.

Watching with interest. I have two bilge pumps in my open Boat, both handraulic, so I'm thinking of fitting an electric pump too, something with a float switch.(y)

Been thinking about this for a while as I have had an LVM Hi_speed inflator for ages but not really used it as it needs about 20A and to croc-clip onto battery terminals. That isn't feasible on my boat and I havent got round to putting in a good (hi amperage) cockpit socket and wiring.

This year, I bought a Victron 20AH Lithium battery ('Superpack') which can discharge the needed amperage, good cables leading to Anderson plug and then put the corresponding Anderson plug on the inflator. Battery is the size of a large paperback and not heavy. Means I can do inflate the dinghy in the cockpit, on the foredeck, under the mast, wherever. It is extremely 'strong' battery - what I mean by that (and what you would expect from lithium) is that it doesn't flag at all - just constant fast inflation.

Some time ago thre was a dingy bilge pump that attached to the mooring lines that would cause the pump to pump water dur to the motion of the mooring limes

There was a second that attached to the side of the dingy that would be due to the motion of the swell lifting and dropping the dingy would also pump water out of the dingy

Don't know if they are still available

No external power needed

Fount it

You might be at cross purposes, the OP is talking about dinghy, SUP etc inflators - Scanstrut ATMOS - The 12V Waterproof Built-In Air Pump. Effortlessly inflate towables, and paddleboards save time and energy.

Since my boat isn't adorned with inflatable toys, I just bought one of these and a long 12v cigarette plug extension lead that gets the pump out onto the foredeck easily to inflate the 3D tender.

Ah! Thanks for that Wonkeywinch. My fault, I didn't read the original post properly. 👍

Hmm just thinking it might be handy to have the deflation option. I usually just squash the dinghy down. Is it easier to deflate before folding or does it make it more difficult.

The LVM (or whatever brand name is now used) both inflates and deflates, and it does make a difference compared to kneeling/sitting on it.

I agree, I wish my pump had that function. It's impressive when I put my duvet into one of those bags and use the vacuum cleaner so it shrinks to nothing and stores under the bed. Just need similar for the dinghy then it would pack into it's bag a lot easier.

Should you not use compressed air for inflation, we have a dewalt 18 volt which has both functions.
