OK just before ‘Kwackers’ comes on and offers me a cheap sweeping brush I’ll be more specific.
I’m looking for a good condition Broom 37 Crown or Broom 10/70. I just thought that this might be the time of year when some folks might be considering selling one but not yet decided or committed themselves to a broker. I’ve seen most of those currently advertised under £60,000 and to be fair they were disappointing, to be honest they were more fitting as garden furniture. I’m not expecting miracles with what has to be considered an elderly craft but something like me …. you know a few miles on the clock, a few signs of wear and tear, welcoming a little TLC but still capable of getting up to mischief.
My last boat has been sold … sob … and I need this next one ideally before April 2016 to take me across the channel and down through the rivers and canals of France to the Med. If it’s already the other side of the pond that’s fine too.
I remain open to be persuaded into another make but the features I like about the Broom are the deck layout (plenty of open space on the command deck , I don’t want a fly bridge), the ability to reduce height of the radar arch, etc., to negotiate the bridges, the island double berth, the ability to reach a minimum of say 18 knots but to cruise comfortably at about 12 knots so semi displacement, twin engines,
Please don’t hesitate to PM me,
Thanks for reading this

Have you considered the Broom 35 sedan?

Very light boat at 6 1/2 tons, good seakeeping, very cheap; will hit your target of 18kts on twin 150hp.

The tiny flybrigde is easy to dissasemble for the canals, nice to have when you get down to the med.

You might get a better response on the Thames forum.

I know of a Broom Ocean 37 Owned by my mates dad in Holland. A well looked after boat and at a good price compared to the UK I think. Let me know if you are interested.
Only selling due to age/health issues.

The Broom Ocean 37 unlike the Crown 37 does not have the aft island double berth otherwise I would certainly have a look but thanks anyway

I know the chap who had the 10/70 at Newark and he looked after it well.

This one I have seen, It is higher than my budget. I did submit what I thought was an appropriate offer in view of the fact that I would be taking in board the winterisation and storage. Sadly it was declined but again thanks for the suggestion and perhaps after he has given it more opportunity to sell at the price he wants he may reconsider my offer.

Yes I purchased my P435 last year from Holland. The exchange rate really helped and it looked to me that the Dutch really look after their vessels. I found the brokers Very professional as well.
Its really worth spending time searching the Internet for your Broom, but might be hard to find as they are aging now.
Good Luck

Also, that offer that was declined - why not re-submit it.

Perhaps the owner has thought about it, but lost your details, the broker may have thrown them away etc etc.

I'd call them back and re-offer - perhaps add £500 to the offer if you wanted to.... I once made a sale on a £100,000 car because we were teetering on the brink of a sale and I offered to fit some mats to it.... You never know how close you are to a deal.
