It looks like that boat was specced for a couple who wanted more worktop space.
The three tables works pretty well but the Brooms with dinettes definitely lose some space from the main saloon. My last boat, a Broom Crown, had no dinette but a bigger saloon.

That layout on the Haines looks a little strange to me...they gave up a separate guest shower to make a bigger galley, fair enough....but why do they need two dining tables ? (three if you count the upper deck)...personally I would keep the shower because cleaning and drying a wet room is a pain even if only used occasionally. Or, I would keep the present layout and remove the bigger saloon table and bench seating and put some nice furniture there (free standing recliner chairs are my choice)...and put the tv someone it doesn’t twist your neck to watch

I've made quite a few replacement panels. Often with the manufacturer's logo or the name of the boat. All I need is a pencil drawing, I can do the rest.

Normally on black panels but white and metallic finishes are also available.

I'm also happy to supply the switches.

Here's a very simple one that I designed and made for a Sunfury. Owner was chuffed to bits.

Petem/Paul,
Those dash panels certainly leave mine in the shade. Did you get it cut from the black on white acrylic for sign writing? I did enquire about that but they only had very thin sheet acrylic in black on white.
I spoke to my Graphic Designer sister yesterday and she said the lettering can be done on a Cricut machine in vinyl. Her friend has a machine so I’ll see I can barter some wine for stickers.

Traffolyte engraving is what you want - it's a two or three layer material where the top surface is engraved exposing the contrasting colour below.

You connect a nmea0183 feed from your plotter to pins 5+6, and everything just happens automatically. The thing prints a log every 20 minutes, on a long ticker tape. Lat/log, STW, time, I think. So if all your electronics failed, or the planet's three GPS systems were switched off, you'd know where you were ten minutes or so ago. It's a back up feature you'll surely never use, but it feels good in a geeky way to have it.

The rolls of paper are easily available on eBay or wherever.

Page 25+26 of this manual
thanks John. Never even thought of that, will add it in my todo list, only problem is that mine is a LO-KATA and not sure it has this NMEA0183 in feature, will check!
fwiw, I do use it when out anchored away from ports/traffic for a week or so at a time mainly for the fun and to see shooting ranges and marine events in the Aegean.
its always fun waking up in the morning having to read half a metre long report on mainly useless stuff happening 200miles from where you are

The work continues. Full dashboard refurb, new i40 speed to match the i40 depth. New wheel from Osculati. It came with a compass rose in the centre so I got my graphic designer sister to digitise the Broom logo into a vector and got www.wheelbadges.com to make me a new 40mm centre badge.
New Icom 440BB vhf fitted.
I also started polishing the dashboard area with my new Proxxon detail rotary polisher. Very hand bit of kit.

I also had the boat out of the water for a few weeks to do the bottom.
I got it blasted with glass beads

Then primed with Primocon and two coats of antifouling

Then I had a really ugly looking badly repaired section of gelcoat across the aft lip of the bathing platform

Nice work Dino. The black really lifts the dash. It’s hard to tell in the photos but I suspect the gauges might be faded/ hazy. it could be worth trying some of the headlight restoration wipes you see these days. 3m, Armor All etc. have various offerings.

The dials were a bit scratched and hazy so I gave them a quick polish with the new detail polisher with the 2 inch pad. I probably need to go over them a few times to get them shining.
