Broom Boats / Thames Boat Sales - After sales service

Many congrats on the new boat and it is good to hear some positive feedback about Brooms, particularly from a satisfied customer :)

We looked at the new 430 at the show and we were impressed. The hard top is a bit of a marmite item but I liked it...very practical for a sea boat but not so good for the inland waterways I guess. We didn't look on your boat as we had seen one previously and thought it was a lovely boat. Enjoy :)

Hi Greg

Thanks for the reply, I am a big fan of the 430 , stunning, the whole thread was started as a means of highlighting the great service we have had from Broom, however we bought her through a Broom dealer Thame Boats Sales and Dominic who we dealt with was very good and thorough he knows his stuff and really knows his boats, I once bought a boat back in 2010 from a dealer and the guy at the handover was useless so good to deal with a chap that actually goes boating himself

I know exactly what you mean Paul. Good service isn't as common as it should be unfortunately but having someone who knows their stuff and wants to do a good job makes all the difference.

Congratulations on the new acquisition. I did wonder if you would eventually buy a Broom (not sure if you remember our emails back in 2012 :) ).

As for Broom's service I can only echo your comments. I didn't buy mine new, but did purchase it through Brooms. Excellent service then and since (when they've been down to work on the boat) and their detailed knowledge of a boat they built over 10 years ago is amazing.

We're going round the factory next weekend. Expect uncontrollable drooling anywhere near the 430 :D

Hi Wavey

And yes remember those mails well, it's a path I wish I had gone down a long time ago, for the UK you just can't beat raised helm position with ability in 5 secs to be indoor / out door plus aft cabin is a dream, if I was in the med perhaps it would be another story but I am not in the med I am in the UK WITH VARIABLE WEATHER, looking back don't quite understand the passion for med style boats in the UK, but clearly I am wrong as lots and lots of people buy them

I have no problem whatsoever in not taking it with me. The problem is not having it in the first place :).

Oh well, if you can't bring back a boat, can you bring back some pics of the 430 instead for our delectation! I'm a big fan of Brooms. We owned a Broom 37 in the dim distant past and loved it

Not sure what's in build at the moment but I'll see what I can do. In the meantime here's a taster. Check out the "Gallery" for pictures and "Reviews" for videos.

I'd lose the hardtop but otherwise I think it's drop dead gorgeous. Believe me, if there was any way at all of owning one there would be skid marks all the way from Surrey to Norfolk :D

Apologies to Paul for the thread drift :)

Good to see that Broom are still building quality boats. With the ownership changes a view years ago I did wonder if they would lose their quality ethos and try to move the brand to appeal to a bigger market by cutting corners - it clearly appears not.

The styling changes are done tastefully and not for the sake of style of substance, Green would not be my choice but I am sure other colours are available :D

I spent some 6 months at Brooms yard a few years ago having recall work done on our last boat (not a Broom) I found the staff incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They even went to the trouble of putting half the boat back together on one occasion so we could have a weeks holiday.

Is Andrew Stone still involved, what he did not know about Brooms was not worth knowing.

Congratulations on your new ship.

Cant argue with you there. We are on our fourth boat and second Broom and the current 41 is undoubtedly the best boat we have owned. We had great fun with our last boat (a Fairline Targa) but our floating apartment takes some beating. The huge cockpit rivals most sports cruisers, the helm is either in the fresh air or enclosed very easily and two en-suite cabins at each end of the boat with a spacious galley and saloon in between makes for great living space. Oh, and chuck in exceptional build quality, great sea keeping and superb close quarters handling and it is a package that I doubt we will ever improve on :)

It's a clever move by Broom targeting the med with this spec. The HT facilitates that. Only need traditional canopy layout for UK climate. Notice also most interior colours are bright to reflect heat instead of absorb. Switched back to fabric for saloon seating as leather would be too hot during the day. This boat gives more living space than many 50ft FB designs. Wonder how it will sell to its intended med market??? Not a Broom vessels past comfort zone.
