Hello, first post here. I'm looking at buying a 1992 Broom 39. I wondered if anyone here would know roughly what she would weigh? The current owner thinks 17 tons, that seems really high to me and is making it difficult to find places to keep her. Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks

It isn’t anything like 17 tonnes. We used to own a Broom 41, which is virtually the same hull and I think it was around 12 tonnes. Our current Hardy 36 is just shy of 10 tonnes as an indicator.

a bit of confusion between . Displacement and weight?

Boats with displacement hulls move through the water by pushing the water aside and are designed to cut through the water with very little propulsion. ... If you could weigh that displaced water, you would find it equals the weight of the boat. That weight is the boat's displacement.
"Google"

My boat has listed dry weight of about 7 tonnes according to the builder, however when the boat was lifted due to bit of an urgent prop repair, the crane driver swore the boat weighed about 9 tonnes.
Suspect much was fuel and water and essential ? stuff accumulated over the years .
Curious that weight and not length is causing a problem. ?

Thanks. Generally she seems too big to get a mooring as a first timer, especially anything with hard standing (she's been in the water for three years so I'm thinking could do with a bit of time ashore to dry out). I've tried pretty much everywhere in the South West mid range marinas, premium places are are bit too pricey for me at that length

Would this be Ce la vie ?
