Broom 38 vs Dutch steel

I'm with miket on this one. We're on our second Dutch steel and I can't understand where all this alleged maintenance is coming from. The previous one did have a teak deck (proper thick wood, not Sealine look-alike) and I was determined not to go down that route again, no matter how nice they look when properly fettled. That apart, doesn't seem to require anything more than an annual clean and polish just like a plastic boat. Mind you, I do try not to go around banging into things. Even then, a little bit of touch-up seems very much easier than filling and trying to match a gouge in gel coat.
