I have nice old 40 foot ketch and have been trucking around without a stem-band for several years. Have been out of water for first time since initial restoration and the time has come to do all the things that I never got around to last time. Someone gave me a strip of UPVC and sugested I use that, ugh! It still sits in my garage and I kind of feel snobbish about putting on a piece of double glazeing strip. What I really want is a bronze stem-band but have not found any other than brass from Davey and co. Any ideas?

I'd have a talk with Classic Marine at Woodbridge. They stock all the Davey's stuff anyway, but also make alot of their own material. They also make items to order......I don't work for them, I'm just a recent customer who had some work done for me in bronze. I just had a simple mast support strap made up from sheet bronze for a classic dinghy I have. They were very helpful and did a good job.

They are on the web with a very good website...classicmarine.co.uk I think....or just put it in a search engine.

Cheers

Yes, you need to go to Classic Marine in Woodbridge.

Not only do we have a nice bronze stem band but we have a quite superb fabricated bobstay fitting as a part of the stem band - throughbolted with three big bronze bolts to a massive bronze backing plate inside the stem - made bu Classic Marine.

Again, not a shareholder just a customer.
