Broker around Oban area

We used Ian Sawkins of Boatshed Scotland to sell a Rival 38 last year. Listed about the end of August, sold by the middle of October. That may have been more to do with the boat than the broker but he certainly did the business for us.
 
If you want someone local, who takes good photos and with a good website who advertises the boats in Yachting Life, probably Mark Cameron at Ardfern is your best bet. I did not know that Boatshed had a presence in Argyll but you could take it to where they are. My own preference would be to take it down the Clyde to Kip or Largs a lot more viewers (and folk with money) down there.
 
Have to disagree about the Clyde versus Oban area. We had a most disappointing experience with a selling a boat on the Clyde. The broker did not seem interested in boats, never seemed to leave her desk to go aboard the boats on the nearby pontoon, and did not even know where the boat was when we visited while the boat was ashore.

From us, another vote for Mark Cameron (shortly to be working as an independent broker). He sold our last boat within a couple of months of us bringing her up to Ardfern from Lymington, where she languished unsold for two years.

Had exactly the opposite experience, admittedly 20 years ago, when I took a 40' Swan from where it had been languishing in Kip, to Lymington from where it sold in two months. Horses for courses I guess.

I think it is a false economy to try to sell a boat in such a remote location. If you bring your boat down south you will probably be able to sell it for a higher price and more quickley.
 
Do you really think that you will get as many viewings in Scotland as on the South Coast? I personally know of two boats that the brokers implored the owners to move them South and in the end they took a hit after waiting ages as buyers were simply not prepared to travel to view the boats. One was a Bowman and the other an Oyster.

You only need one serious buyer - I would suggest that the people you refer to were not that serious. People travel across to America, down to the Med and over to the Baltic to look at something in which they are genuinely interested.

+1 for Boatshed, Both Ian Sawkins and Tom Simister were very helpful. It took about 3 months to sell our Jeanneau Sunrise 35. Price was realistic. There are some boats still at silly prices from 2016! Be honest with yourself and prices and you will get a sale with a well kept boat.

That's surprising - we went to Kiel an found a find a very nice Jeanneau 42i Performance, and sailed home via Norway. Flights ain't that bad.
