I am sure this question has been asked before, but would appreciate advice being new to the area. I am looking for a top notch surveyor (at a reasonable price) with a close and exacting eye for detail - someone pinickity! I am not trying to be difficult or negotiate, but to be certain what I am buying and that I have found everything that I will have a boatyard put right.

I have boated for a number of years and now changing for the first time in many years to the boat to sail into my retirement.......... I admit to having exacting standards and like my boat to look good inside and out and to run well. Not looking to spend a fortune down the line either which would not go well on a pension. I am howveer fortunate at this point in having three options - the opportunity to purchase an older boat - 11 years and 1100 hours but which appears fastidiously maintained, annual lift, with fsh, a second 12 years and 450 hours (cheaper and no real history at all and a little "unloved" inside) and a later boat which looks immaculate (which may not be as well built it is being suggested) 4 years and 100 hours. All are glassfibre. Would you be concerned at Osmosis? I feel spoilt for choice and would welcome thoughts and suggestions please. Price is very important but not necessarily the deciding factor at this point.

Thank you for reading and for any advice

In need of a Surveyor and confused!

You clearly have high standards and you also want to get any work done by the 'yard' rather than DIY possibly you are a little 'pernickety' yourself!!! Nothing at all wrong with that of course but clearly any advice needs tailoring to your personal inclinations.
I would not be overly concerned about 'osmosis' but I guess that you would be very concerned and want to spend ( a lot ) having it fully sorted. My inclination ( with you in mind ) would be the 'fastidious' one.

Really you could do with an obliging surveyor who will do a quick once over of your short list with your ideals in mind and then a 'proper' survey once you have indicated you choice.

So....anyone have a surveyor in mind who fits the bill??

I know cross-posting is frowned upon, but you may want to post this over in the East Coast Forum, for a bit of local knowledge.

I have used Steven Truss on my last 2 boats, ( both on the Broads) found him to be very professional. Also has a wealth of knowledge on the many " Broads Boats" some of which look the same but are different beasts under the skin !
