...and by coincidence I arrived at Brixham marina this afternoon, an MDL marina. I was charged £120 for two nights, which I reckon is more than it would cost for the best hotel here. I also had to wait while the marina manager explained to a telephone caller that the offer was misleading and it did not cover X, Y and Z. I could almost hear at him thinking 'damn those marketing people'.

On the other hand we had the best fish and chips we can imagine, SWMBO had a fish called pout, which was delicious.

Ahh well that's 48ft boat and a beauty at that. That's what you have to pay to moors quality boat .

I preferred it when it was in Cowes, Brixham's a long way to go for a wash off;)

Then again, I didn't understand why they moved out of Cowes, would of thought far more business in the centre of the Solent area than down the west coast, but hey what do I know, did MDL buy Sealift2?

The SeaLift that was in Cowes is now in Haslar......so still convenient for you!

There's plenty of travel hoists in and around Solent, not no easy to get lift out in Brixham area so would guess that's why it was put there, also fouling is quite bad in Brixham so mid season lift and scrub makes sense.

Yep, and lots of the Solent yards responded to Sealift's lower prices by offering cheap lift and scrub deals, especially in summer when the yards are quiet. For example, a lift and scrub for 10m boat in Lymington Yacht Haven is not much more than £100.

That could have been me, who also arrived from Cheltenham on Friday afternoon.

I was just reading your previous post and thinking "Yes, that was the conversation I overheard".

The chap in the office was saying they had no anti-foul... but then, a quick wash off doesn't do much to the anti-foul and in any case, I wouldn't expect a wash-off to include re-anti-fouling. It would be a very generous offer if it did.

Funny that you are from Cheltenham as well!

Went to Brixham for a shakedown trip this weekend, marina organised a berth for two nights, great service considering demand but SWMBO thought it expensive and I thought no fee wi-fi code just a bit too much. Saw no action on the lift all weekend! Yes, very friendly and we'll certainly go back!

Great marina, very helpful staff.

Were in our 3rd year in Brixham and despite spending 4 months in the Solent (many thanks MDL for Freedom Berthing) were really looking forward to going home in July

By contrast, we are here in San Remo in Italy (thanks to some great advice from forumite Portofino) where we've rather ambitiously been given a 24m berth - and it cost €55. And it's 27C. And dinner last night was a slightly unbelieveable €35...

Kcrane: come on down :D

That does sound very tempting :D
Having spent time sailing around Capri last year, I recall a beer for 4 costing more than 35 euro, it wasn't an infamous JtB kebab was it?

Tee-hee, nope, coupla pizzas, salad, mezzo litro vino rosso and coffees. And a bottle of water. €35. Just like the south of France. Er, not.
