Brittany trip (inc pictures)

Heh - glad the cill is there now! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Binic would have been our choice, but for tides and running out of time. Having said that - we did find a nice market at St Quay (Fridays, by the church), and spent some time exploring the little island which you can reach at some (most?) states of the tide by walking from the beach just over from the marina. It wasn't at all bad, just not as special as where we'd come from /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ah well - it gives us an excuse to go back again sometime. St Malo beckons too - quite a few friends have recommended going in through the lock..

St Malo was our favourite spot in Brittany. As you say, go through the lock (can be a bunfight) into the Bassin Vauban and try to find a pontoon space or tie up to the wall. You're then only a short walk from the town which is really worth a 2-3 day visit. Great to eat out there in the evenings with all the street entertainment going on. Plus you've got a sandy beach nearby for kids and its not far to get to Mont St Michel as well
In addition you can lock through the Rance barrier from St Malo and potter up to Dinan which is also a v attractive town although up a steep hill
Well worth spending a few days in the area
