I made the same enquiry a couple of months ago to discover a further cavalier commercial attitude which now prevails within B/W.
Can't remember the detail,but as I had used over 8 months there was no refund! Under that I seem to remember there was a formula,but not any way near a logical pro rata calculation.

IIRC you get 1/10 back for every unused month, best to contact BW soon so you can get it back to them before the end of the month.
