hi there

Just wondered if there are any British Standards relating to boat wiring and any recognised training/qualifications for a boat electrician.

BS EN ISO 10133:2000 - Small craft - Electrical Equipment - Extra-low-voltage electrical installations

BS EN ISO 13297:2000 - Small craft - Electrical Equipment - AC installations

BS EN 60092-507:2000 Electrical installations in ships – Part 507: Pleasure craft

BS EN ISO 9097:1994/A1:2000 Small Craft - Electric fans

BS EN ISO 8849:1993/A1:2000 Small craft - Electrically operated bilge pumps (ISO 8849:1990)

BEMA, the British Marine Federation, publish a CD entitled "BEMA Code of Practice for Electrical and Electronic Installations in small Craft"
This has been my reference during a couple of recent boat re-wires.
The CD includes BS EN ISO 10133 and BS EN ISO 13297.

The ABYC standards, whilst not British, tend to be more practicaly oriantated and detailed in my experience, I believe its what Sunseeker now design / build to (although no doubt they take any relevant EU rules into account too).

I got my ABYC certification in the UK, let me know if you need anymore info.
