My favourite show of the year is just around the corner and it promises to be a particularly interesting one this year.

Held from Friday 19th May until Sunday 21st May at Swanwick marina on the Hamble this is when Princess, Sunseeker and Fairline get together to put on a small but highly concentrated boutique motorboat show. No massive queues, no sales prevention officers stopping you looking at the boats and usually a few familiar faces. This time last year we were able to freely wander round the new 95 Yacht from Sunseeker, a far cry from the hoards and the queues at Southampton. This is a show for boaters rather than a general day out. There will also be some ancillary exhibitors such as Landau showing boating toys and general equipment.

I'm hoping this will be the first time we get to see the all new Fairline Squadron 52 in the UK. Sunseeker's Manhattan 52 ought to be there as well.

Princess are presenting the new P62 flybridge and they will also have the smallest of the S class boats, the S60 making her on water debut. It's middle sister the S65 might be there as well. The V48 & 58 deck should be there. Project 31 will also be on display, the last time I saw her was 7,000 miles away in Singapore almost exactly a year ago.

Exact line ups tend to be a bit fluid as it depends on production and also dealer stock levels but there is always something to see and a good chance to have a forum drink possibly ?

Will you be providing complimentary drinks to forumites, Henry? What stand number?

I'm a punter just like you !

To be fair if you are genuinely in the market for a boat at some point in the future you won't struggle to get a glass of something from any of the big 3, similarly if you've bough from them in the past make sure you are on their mailing list.

There is a cafe on site and the Old Ship is just around the corner where we have had a few forum gatherings in the past.

Our boat is coming out of the water for it's annual overhaul a couple of weeks before the show so may be back in the water on a pontoon during the show looking lovely & shiny

Is there scope for a low key Beer & Natter on the Saturday afternoon or evening at the Old Ship or Boathouse. I appreciate Gary is arranging one in July at Yarmouth, but this has another good reason to gather and might be simpler for many to get to.

Just a thought out loud.

I've missed this show the past couple of years, due to being otherwise engaged with two-wheeled shenanigans on the continent, but this year I'm hoping to get there. Be nice to meet up with folks; in the past we've just arranged to approximately coincide at the show, which seems to work well (and fits nicely with the relaxed boutiquey vibe).

A Friday or Saturday evening meet up in the Old Ship allows those who want it to grab a bite to eat as well as have a natter. I suspect several of us will be there anyway so it makes sense ?

Henry :)

That makes sense. I'm currently trying to work out our plans over that weekend as the boat is due back in the water at Swanwick on the Thursday but that depends on all the work being finished.

That bad boy will have its own gravitational field. I think they hid one round the corner last year.

Hopefully seen all the rain today. I'm a drowned rat! Taking the boat back to Haslar tomorrow.

I don't think I've seen the Fairline Squadron 53 yet. Planning to be back here on Saturday to avail myself of the various hospitality on offer. If anyone sees me don't tell them I'm only a simple country boy :)
