Right in one.
The pier goes underwater at HW on an equinoctial spring tide. I think the surface of the pier is about 13.7m above CD, and spring tides get well into the 14s, and everyone here knows very well. A couple of fishermen got themselves trapped there a couple of weeks ago.

I would say that's Flat Holm in the distance, plus Penarth and Cardiff to the right. So it must have been taken somewhere around E&W. (I'm probably TOTALLY wrong.)

There are days when I miss the golden glow of the waters of God's Channel.
Then I remember the tidal streams and the wind over tide and feel quite happy to be somewhere else.

I think out of the few I've taken so far this year, my favourite picture of the Holms is probably this one . . .

Makes me a bit homesick.
We spent 3 years in Portishead about 2005. Then a tour in The Netherlands.
Is everyone at Portishead still as charming?
My memory is of the most professional and pleasant marina.
Expensive but worth every penny.
