I will start it off with a picture of somewhere in the area. Who ever correctly identifies the place posts the next picture for people to identify and so on.

So, whereisit?

Right in one.

The pier goes underwater at HW on an equinoctial spring tide. I think the surface of the pier is about 13.7m above CD, and spring tides get well into the 14s, and everyone here knows very well. A couple of fishermen got themselves trapped there a couple of weeks ago.

Now over to you Allan.

There are days when I miss the golden glow of the waters of God's Channel.

Then I remember the tidal streams and the wind over tide and feel quite happy to be somewhere else.

As you should.

Guaranteed wind over tide like nowhere else on earth (at least nowhere I've been, which isn't that far to be fair). Makes you so glad to be (still) alive ;)

I think out of the few I've taken so far this year, my favourite picture of the Holms is probably this one . . .

Temujin, I think it's your turn. Unless you want me to dig another guess out? ;)

"God's Channel" described as a "golden glow"; I like that, makes a change from suggesting the waters look like builder's tea or hot chocolate gone cold. Going to keep hold of that one, thanks Gwylan.

Makes me a bit homesick.
We spent 3 years in Portishead about 2005. Then a tour in The Netherlands.

Is everyone at Portishead still as charming?
My memory is of the most professional and pleasant marina.
Expensive but worth every penny.
