I have just been so lucky this weekend as I had my first ever balloon flight on what was probably the only mass flight of the weekend on Friday evening. Fortunately the weather didn't stop the red arrows on Sunday. Was too slow to get their photo but here is one from the balloon over floating harbour.

I have to say I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the balloon flight but it was brilliant, absolutely amazing. However it was not the quiet bliss everyone talks about as our pilot likes to keep low, against the rules but much more fun. Which means the burner is on an off quite often but it did give us a chance to chat with the folk sat out on their balconys and in their gardens. If you ever get the chance to do it go for it, awesome experience.

about 30, I'll stick some more up after I've cooked dinner (rellys down from Yorkshire this weekend so I'm under orders to not spend all evening on the forum!!!)

Louise and I did it in the Wye valley some years back. Outstanding experience, though a somewhat bumpy landing. Being a baldy git as well, I found the burner very uncomfortable on the top of me head.

Alcyone has hit upon the one thing you must prepare for and someone told us about it, wear a hat, it gets hot. Ok some more photos. I have more but these are the best

Great to see some photos of balloons actually off the ground! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was there on thursday afternoon, and although half a dozen "special shapes" were inflated and tethered, none took to the air.

The crews all came out after their briefing for the evening flight, with high expectations, but were then promptly grounded as they prepared the balloons for flight. The night glow went ahead ok though, which was fantastic.

I went up again on sunday, mainly to see the Red Arrows. Again, the weather was crap, and they didn't inflate a balloon all day. The Red Arrows managed to do their thing though. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
