Brightlingsea water taxi

Had anyone actually bothered to listen to the locals, they would have quickly realised that the building of the entire development and the addition of the foolish floating causeway combined with the removal of the old concrete jetty, would change the flow of the water in and out of the creek resulting in silting where silting had never occurred before!

Still it is all history now, Hampstead Homes have no doubt made their profit, the planners that gave their approval will no doubt be delighted with their foresight in allowing the developer to go ahead, and the only ones to suffer are the poor sods who live in the town and use the river!

Still...what do we matter?

Well despite I loathe the development, I do hope they actually finish it. The one thing worse than an eyesore development is a half-finished eyesore development. Just reminds me of those hotel complexes that kept springing up in Spain etc, like a continual building site.

Anyway, was down at Brightlingsea today. What a lovely day. Weather was fantastic and managed to take some nice pics with my phone-cam.

Had a little trundle down the creek in the dinghy. Some nice remnants of bygone eras tucked in down there.

Has anyone met the new HM yet? or is it gonna be an 'outsider' yet to be announced?

The new HM is Bob Hockham. Not met him but had the details in with my mooring invoice.

Bob Hockham, a Master Mariner currently based in Southampton, who has extensive experience at sea in large and small vessels and ashore in the marine industry. He is actively involved in dinghy sailing and power boating.

He and his wife will be moving to Brightlingsea and he will take up his new role at the beginning of April 2010.

Well it's nice he seems to be / have been involved in all kinds of boating. Here's hoping he gets a warm welcome and is as helpful as Bernie.

didn't go last week due to rubbish weather - going to Kovalam this week if it doesn't p**s down.

'spect I'll need to get the dinghy out :-(

I was down at Brightlingsea today.. Smashing day, smashing weather. I could almost remember how to sail after a few weeks of not being out.

Though my timing sucks as I came back to the 'hard' virtually bang on low water so it was a walk and a half dragging the tender back to its home.
