Brightlingsea Regatta and Boat Show

I was wondering if it would be worth going to Brightlingsea Regatta and Boat Show, so I had a look at the website. It seems that the commercial involvement has increased, and I have no problem with that. However, there is little mention of sailing - Is there any? or is this the first non sailing regatta? If there is sailing, what and when, does anybody know?

By home I presume you mean Mersea, but no, I am still in Ibiza. The temperature here is 20c - 25c, so would you come back to the UK now? However, I would have liked to go to Burnham for the dinner, but I can't have it both ways

I am coming back to the UK on the 28th May for a hospital appointment

Website says Events and times not finalised. Looks like it could be fun but the chance of getting a mooring is probably none.

Well, elf n' safety permitting, I have been charged wth organising the Greasy Pole so maybe something entertaining ( or disastrous) may be on offer... Yes , there will be any number of waterborne stuff going on including rowing boats and yacht racing.
Come on down and have some fun ( just be aware of the Harbour price rises) .

I still can't find a programme of events - Is there one yet?

I can't help with programme of events but Brightlingsea Sailing Club is offering a sail in dinghies which is being run by Volvo, you can even take a test drive in a Volvo! We have a full day planned for the family to do from Kite surfing, to paddle boarding, games on the beach, crabbing for the kids, stalls and rides. We have even promised good weather!

Just over a week to go and I still can't find a regatta programme - What is there (Apart from the greasy pole - H&S permitting) and where is the regatta car park? Parking in B'sea is bad enough normally, but Regatta day is going to be impossible unless I can find the car park

It's a local event for local people, you just have to be content with what you find; not really designed for the jet set crowd who fly in for a regatta.

I don't know who you are talking about - I am not jet set, I will be coming in my 15 year old Audi. Furthermore, if there is no programme available, how are the local yokels going to find out what is going on and where?

Car parking in Oyster tank road, Waterside industrial estate and Morgan's Yard. Check the Colne Yacht Club website for a few more bits about sailing events. Coastal rowing club racing off the town hard, Raft race and the standard flour fights off dinghies.
Also a new/used boat sho in the Waterside Marina along with a load of other things to see on arrival.

Mainly we import our Yokels from the population of local Islands and we try to explain things in pictorial form, the locals have often been seen to attend the realms of academe !
