bray marina party

I dont think so, after a poor turn out last year I heard that they will not be doing it this year which is a shame we had a great time.

I went last year and didn't think it was a poor turn out? A good time was had and it was a great way for us to get to know more people.
If that's the case, I think that it's quite bad PR from MDL. They obviously just don't want to spend the money!

Poor turn out compared to previous years is what I was told! Its a shame not more people supported the event as a lot of time effort and money went into it. Perhaps Mike Gates will would like to comment!!

Hi guys

The party for Bray and Windsor’s berth holders was planned for September; we even had Boat One booked as a star turn. Unfortunately due to Bray Cruiser Club and The Windsor Yacht Club having activities booked in September as well, we decided to postpone the party this year.

All of the staff at Bray and Windsor really enjoys the party and it is always well attended by our berth holders, usually between 350/400 folk, but I did not want to risk an October party as it is outside. I am looking towards June 2010, let’s hope we do have a barbeque summer next year.

All the best

I have to say that after chatting to several berth holders other the weekend, the lack of a marina party this year (or even letting us know if there was one or not) , has pi@@ed a few people off.
As for not having one because it may clash with one of the cruising clubs do's, it does sound a bit of an easy excuse for not having one - not all (and in fact probably a majority) of your paying customers Mike, are not members of these clubs anyway! Do we not count?

Dissapointed of Bray

I suspect many would come given the choice between getting something out of MDL for free or paying for another event...(and before you say it - not just me!, I did not go last year even though I could have!!)

MDL should have scheduled something, inlandnewbie is right fairly weak excuse...

if i was organising a profit making event and I knew that we could lose 20 - 30% of potential customers, then maybe not.

If I was organising an event to thank my existing clients for thier custom for that year (something that I do reguarly in my work), and I knew that 70 - 80% of them would be available, then yes I would.

Same goes the other way, ie is MDL expecting people to renew annually or is it a welcome return?
Its a tough market out there and repeat business is a darn sight cheaper than new business...

Surely this isn't a freebie anyway, everything is paid for by the berthholders one way or another.
Perhaps a discount to loyal bertholders instead.. ha ha.

Bray berth holders also received a discount - if they paid their mooring fees early.

Not to mention fuel at cost, free wifi and cross berthing arrangements at Windsor, Penton Hook and Bray .....anyways, I don't trust discount arguments, what matters is what you actually pay and what you get - not to mention whether you actually like a particular location.
