My Bravo II past its sell buy date and it was replaced by a Bravo III, great drive what a difference it makes to the boat handling. However my question is that when I get up on the plane and start to trim the leg out I loose speed not increase, this is opposite to the bravo II, is this correct?

Many Tks

My new Alpha drive behaves the same, and I run with it fully down all the time. However due to the fact that I didn't want to cut too much off existing support ribs under the engine when installing the new unit, I set my 'X dimension' 20mm higher than recommended.

This will mean that the leg is already 'a bit high' when fully trimmed in, and any trimming out will prob push it beyond satisfactry operating limits. Is is possible that the new drive is set higher than the old one. (The X dimension is the distance from the crank c/l to the bottom of the transom/hull bottom). I would have thought all Bravo drives require the same X dimension, but you never know.

I did note in my installation instructions that there are 'spacers' on the Alpha drive that can be removed to enable the leg to be trimmed in even further. I'm thinking about trying this when I next lift the boat out. Are there spacers that can be removed on the Bravo III ?

I have pm'd you andrew

yes there is a spacer where the rams attach to the lower leg - you don't remove it you swap it's position relative the through bolt. Spacer on the inside will give you the maximum trim in.
