Brass Cleaning

I have these deck fittings that need rechroming and before i send them off i was gong to Nickle pate them myself as its dam dear now to get things chromed and my budget nowadays is very tight.

This is more than you need but other mite want to know how they got this way.

So i cleaned them myself with first a DA sander with 80g to remove the hardest chrome what was left then 120g pads

Then a polish wheel, i have a bench polisher and drill mount and Dremmel for the tiny areas.

Once the chrome was removed is just a matter of a go on the 2 stage buffing/polishing wheels, quick and easy.

drill is a 3 inch kit but as said i have a bench polisher aswell so a use 150mm wheels on there. obviously you cant use that if fittings are on the boat still. The smaller drill/Dremmel wheels do the same trick though.
