Its spring here and I have been tidying and cleaning. I have collected all the short bits of dyneema and chopped of the ends of sheets where the polyester cover has been damaged, from long term rubbing when we had stainless lifelines. Virtually all of our cordage is dyneema - with a cover.

I then ended up with lots of dyneema cores which I made into shackles and the like. I found splicing very therapeutic but now have enough shackles to last a lifetime and I'm looking for uses for them :)

But I have much polyester cover - hollow tube. Does it have a use - if so what?

This is all small stuff - our sheets and halyards are 10mm and the other size we use is 6mm.

I dislike throwing something out, that might have a use, almost as much as I hate cutting rope.

The only use I can think of is as covers to protect from abrasion but th bits I have are bit small, thin (lacking in diameter)

Not sure about 10mm but we use the outer braid of 12mm as part of our mozzy nets. Stitch up one end and fill with lead shot until the whole length is full. This goes around the hatch. The mozzy net is stitched over it to cover the open hatch. They never blow away or let mozzies in. The lead might be a bit heavy for you though ?

And the assembled suggestions made me add rope for fenders.

Thanks for the ideas - my imagination and lateral thinking was obviously not working too well.
