Bradwell

Had a nice picnic on the shell bank & set me wondering about moving our boat to the marina.It would mean an extra 14 miles from the house but we've been on the Crouch for a while now & maybe a change for next year would be nice.Afraid its only got an engine! Hope that won't black ball me!!!.

Burnham would be lovely if it wasn't on the Crouch! The Blackwater is a fine river with lots of places to go and a good jumping off point for Harwich and beyond. Plenty of stinkies. Just not the range of facilities that Burnhamites are used to. Why not try it for a month - that's what we did 8 years ago!

We were in Bradwell Marina many years ago for a while, and I was pleased to leave. Been to Burnham a few times recently and find it very pleasant (apart from the lousy pontoons).

Bradwell is great if you like to get away from it all... piece n quiet.
Not so good when you need to drive to Maldon or Burnham for just about...... anything!!
I love it there!!

The problem I have with Burnham is the river, it is straight and boring! As a 'raggy' it takes a couple of hours at best to get out of the Crouch. From Bradwell in 15 minutes you are in clear water to play - other than a couple of hours either side of LW!

Also there are so several sailing options from Bradwell, depending on how far and sheltered you want to sail. Most weekends you can get somewhere, whether the tide favours an ebb trip or a flood trip.

Ha! Try mooring further upriver then - it's bendy ... and boring <sigh>!

It has it's compensations though
