I don't know if this has been posted before but a friend who lives in Bradwell tells me that when the contractors removed the wings of the baffle some of the iron work was left sticking out of the sea bed. Might be wise to be careful when going into the mariner.

Oh dear o dear. I missed posting this last week: :o:o:o:o:o:o:o

RIVER BLACKWATER, ESSEX

Work to remove small amounts of localised debris and silt deposits from the riverbed in and around the periphery of the Baffle Wall at Bradwell on Sea will commence 1st September 2013 until 30th November 2013.

This work is being undertaken commensurate with the decommissioning of Bradwell Nuclear Power Station

The proposed works will be marked by the positioning of two yellow pellet buoys bearing the word “DANGER”. In the following positions:

Name OSGB NG EASTING OSGB NG NORTHING LATITUDE LONGITUDE
1 599577.7 209085.8 51⁰44.695462N 0⁰53.374801E
2 599610.3 209112.8 51⁰44.709314N 0⁰53.404025E

Works will be undertaken 24 hours a day until 1300 on Saturdays and not on Sundays or Bank Holidays. All vessels involved will display the correct lights and day signals associated with this work.

Nigel Harmer understands this to be short lengths of steel pile, less than a metre in length and no great threat to yachts in view of the depth there. The two yellow buoys are just 'upstream' of the remaining baffle wall. They are not lit
