Bradwell B Nuclear Power Station

If you idealistically ignore profit, you will go out of business
Yea like all them Airlines that ignored actual profit for the activity and numbers, that has done them so so well, has not it ?

Unfortunately so so many Business have not paid attention to the the real activity of Business in that of attracting a ready supply of trained labour, lack of apprenticeships etc, so that they have relied upon importing Labour as well as basic materials from abroad, then, like the present PPE shortages have shown, they, the Management and Government have been caught with their 'pants down' , and run arround in circles, looking for a solution, a solution that they have ignored for many years, all because they followed the Just in Time and Buy from the Worlds Stage as its cheaper mantra, that silly silly bugrs they have proved out to be

Well might be an idea if the sort of No Mans Land area that surrounds the new build could be designated as the local Traveller Site fo the whole of the county Of Essex plus the East London overspill, that would (will) settle them Essex Mens appitite for Foreigners in their midst , eh ?
What a stupid childish post

I’m English but believe in Great Britain .. that’s what made this country so attractive for all these “ foreigners “ to flock to our country and prosper ...

Large constructions projects usually import labour for the temporary job and set up a construction village.. the people with teh skills for construction won't be found in the Dengie or indeed in most of Essex.

Why won't people with construction skills be found in Essex? I expect there will be some ex-Cross rail workers

By chance, I am reading George Ewart Evans’ Ask the Fellows Who Cut the Hay which - though dealing with a village in Suffolk, not Essex - provides an interesting backdrop to reading this thread. (I had forgotten that Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk had provided a 'pilot' for the Domesday Book - and never knew that their inhabitants viewed themselves as so distinct from the rest of England, which they called the ‘Sheres’.)

I was joking! But, seriously, I am not sure that power station will start at all. I’m not sure we will have the money.
But it seems the French and Chinese have, and are prepared to risk it.

I have friend that is chairman of BANNG ( I don't share his views) the local protest group, and he accepts that the power station will be built, and BANNG are now trying to get the size of the power station reduced

All the container cranes at the Port of Felixstowe have been supplied by Zhenhua Port Machinery Company of Shanghai and assembled and commissioned on site by Chinese workers, as was the gantry crane used in the building of the aircraft carriers Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales.

I suggest you don’t worry about it.
Fairly unsurprising as the Port of Felixstowe is part of the Hong Kong based C K Hutchison Holdings, formerly known as Cheung Kong Holdings. They have yet to update the name of their head office building - Cheung Kong House. Wouldn't surprise me to hear that Zhenua Port Machinery Company is owned by Hutchison. It's also likely that China has installed as many container cranes as the rest of the world put together in the past 20 years, so that is where you would go for up to date experience of building these cranes.

Peter.
