(1) take a rope, pass it from in front of you around your back from left to right so that you are holding the short end in your right hand with about a foot dangling free (hold your pint in your left hand).
(2) while still holding the short end in your right hand cross your hand *over* the long end (on your left) - the crossed ropes should now form a V-shape (pointing away from you).
(3) still holding the rope in your right hand all the time, cross your right hand to the left *down* over the long end (which is to your left), right up through the V-shape and then point your right hand forward. You should now be back to square one, holding the short end in your right hand, but the movement you just made has created a loop in the long end around your right wrist.
(4) Using the fingers on your right hand only, pass the short end a few inches to the left, *under* the long end, and hold it again in your right hand.
(5) Now pull your right back towards your body, *through* the loop that was around your wrist, pulling the short end back through the loop as you go.
(6) That took about 2.5 seconds... Down the pint in your left hand and hold your right hand out for a free drink.

ps. doesnt work too well on the foredeck in a rough sea...!!!!

Hi Nick,
I used to think it was because I registered a couple of years ago, but only became active when I bought a boat this year, and I was expecting to become regular over time as my average postings increased.

However, apparently there is a glitch in the system where anyone who had exactly N posts when the new software was introduced has ended up in limbo. Someone else had the same problem recently, and I think Kim has a program that will fix it on an individual basis - just havnt bothered him about it.

Maybe it's about time though.... Kim, can you 'fix' me.? (notify moderator button)

at the bottom of each post, there is 'post extras' with 4 icons to the right. Hover your mouse over each button. One says 'notify moderator'
