Bow thruster noise levels?

In another post a Max Power thruster was thought to have more noise than a Sidepower thruster. Is that a fair generalization or are noise levels more particular to installation specifics? How do other thrusters compare re noise levels i.e. Vetus, Lewmar and other small electric thrusters?

If noise is an issue go hydraulic. There is little to choose between electric ones and the biggest influence will be the installation. Basically they are fitted into large empty lockers. I guess it acts like a big sound box.

Hydraulic tends to be for bigger thrusters and much more expensive. I would still be interested in views about noise levels.

The way I understand it, side power now use five blade props (as opposed to the old four blade), which are a lot quieter, not sure if any others have caught up with this yet. May be a patent issue.
We have a side power five blade stern thruster which you cannot hear unless engines are off & you really listen, & a four blade maxpower of the same power on the bow which we are replacing with side power because of the noise, so if anyone wants a cheap maxpower 80 let me know

stupid Q,

can't you just change the prop??? do you need to go through all the hassle of removing the thing, drill new holes, sort out old holes and fit the new one?

btw, I have an old QL with two props three blades each, rather noisy, would be interested to find new props for it if it makes a serious difference in noise.

cheers

I think there is more to it than that, pitch & shape etc, did check but maxpower don't do one, so I'm guessing it is also a patent issue.

cannot thing more variables other than pitch shape and speed.
Wonder if they do actually change axle rotation with a different pulley (in my case at least as there is a toothed belt to transfer the power from the motor to the axle) and get coarser or finer pitch props...
