Bow thruster etiquette

The daughter of a close friend and her husband live aboard a yacht in Falmouth.

They tell us that the locals refer to the bowthruster as "the girly button" :D
 
I think they are great because the sound they make can be heard a long way off. This gives you ample time to go on deck and prepare for a collision. :D

I would rather hear the bow thruster than the sound of my boat being hit thats for sure...

I have a bow thruster on a Bavaria 30 - Hardly ever use it, but it has saved my bacon once or twice when the wind has been in totally the wrong direction!
