Bournemouth Air Show

Living a few hundred yards from the Eastcliffe zig-zag I don't get much choice. If anyone is thinking of going and they haven't been before it's a pretty big event. Don't even think of parking near the beach, just use a Park and Ride.

I would recommend it - last year was excellent.

We normally go down to our Beach Hut (near Boscombe Pier and Manor Zig-Zag) and watch from there. So far, the Red Arrows have always made their initial - and sudden - appearance from inland, just over our heads. It's wicked

I'll miss it this year, because we're going to Enniskillen at the weekend for a big family event; there's some stuff on today however, so Mrs jhr has gone down there with the kids, to watch. We're flying from Southampton to Belfast on Saturday, so maybe I could persuade the pilot to make a wee detour.....? :)

To second what Grumpy o g says: if going by road arrive very early, or park elsewhere.

Look forward to seeing you all out there then! Come and say hi if you get the chance - I will be on Aigua (SC29 with a blue hull).

Planning to go on Sunday but in two minds at the moment as the weather is borderline SW F3/4/5 depending on what forecast you read. I have to make a decision tomorrow (Friday) whether to give the okay for friends to come down etc, can't help thinking it will be too choppy to anchor with people not used to a boat.

What do others think?

Last year it was great managed to attend both Saturday and Sunday, the Saturday I just poddle up and down and Sunday I decided anchor.

Hi

Have not seen you around for a while, been anywhere nice or has it been work work work

I wish it had been work work work - I had an extended 3 week stay courtesy of the NHS thru most of July and then when I finally got back to my desk its been work work work ever since. I've only been fit enough to get down to the boat once since my release from hospital, so this weekend I was hoping the weather would be nice - fat chance by the looks of things. I'll look out for you and stop by for a chat if I can.

Forecast seems to be worsening all the time so we've abandoned plans for tomorrow. Sunday better but still not great. There's going to be quite a swell built up with the SWesterlies so it will be grot anchoring up off the beach.

Curse this British weather

Yep agree it seems to be getting worse, even if the wind did drop the forecast is now for heavy rain most of the day on Sunday, so probably not going to see much. Considering it looks like it would be a slog of a run from Southampton all the way and from what I can ascertain it is Wind against tide until later in the afternoon.

So I have now decided to give up on the idea, I think I will only end up putting friends off ever going boating with me again. So disappointing as I have been looking forward to the airshow since going last year.

I really wish the weather would get better for a few weeks, not had a good run for some time.

Went last year the show was fantastic and it was relatively calm but the wash from all the boats moving about close to us was too much for SWIMBO don’t think i will be going with this forecast, shame was looking forward to it.

No planes today as the cloud was to low. I stood on the cliff top and had a look and the sea state was awful - I dont hold out to much hope for tomorrow unfortunatly.

Gutted as I was really looking forward to it.
