Has anyone any experience of these inner marinas? Not the tidal ones. I noticed this summer that the have been tarted up a bit (probably with a dollop of EU money). How accessable are they? What are the locks like? Dunkirk was obviously built for ships so I wonder how yachts cope. Also do they ever work on a freeflow basis?
Thanks.

To get into Dunkirk Centre relies on calling Harbour control, I Think @ about 1.5hrs before H.W. Then all the locks are opened for you, to get into the central marina... Boulogne is much easier and the lock opens upon request for about 2.5 hrs either side of H.W. (2003)HTH. Tony W.

Confirm this, though we found the Basin Napoleon at Boulogne open for more than 3 hours either side of the tide, no difficulty coming and going to the new marina. I've not entered the inner marina at Dunkerque, which looks scruffy with poor security, but the Trystam lock is theoretically available around the clock, also used by large ships.
