Bought another boat...

+1

Some of those pix could’ve been original brochure shots but better.

Having once owned a Portofino of the same generation, I might be biased but I think they look terrific and possibly have now achieved a classic status.

Still, like all classics of whatever type, a great deal of work has to be put in behind the scenes to achieve a result like this.

Fantastic!

Yes indeed, I said the same about the brochure on F/B - Nick's certainly got the knack of this photo-journalist lark hasn't he? :D

I'd idolised this era of boats since I was a kid and other lads were worshipping motorbikes! It may have taken a while to achieve, but from a low base and well worth the wait. I think the work begins here really, but luckily I enjoy it... Probably a good job, because I've still got to get on with the Fletcher Arrowbolt project! ;)

looks great, very well done!

however, Rob, it's been over a year since the last update! maybe you should sell a few of the other fletchers and concentrate on this one as well as the SS!

cheers

Hi Vas,

Yes, sorry! Shamefully slow... There's only the 150GTO that I could sell - probably not just yet however.

It was never meant to be a fast turnaround but a fun project on which to learn some new skills. That said I hadn't reckoned on some of the life hurdles and other demands on time either so has been longer than expected. I'm concentrating on clearing a second mortgage at the moment and then will be able to throw some more time and funds that way. :) There has been things going on behind the scenes, but not worthy of an update. I have sourced a compressor and spraying equipment and as of last week, I think I've found a 5.7 motor and a 4 barrel Rochester carb, so inching forward. Also have a great name in the pipeline and a better suited trailer plus a permanent covered area planned where I will be able to work - essential for re-spraying hull. Once I restart, progress should be a bit quicker, but unlikely to restart before the summer... Good job I'm quite patient! ;)

I started catching up on your rebuild the other night as I haven't had much time for the forum since changing career - a little more to read, but as always completely in awe of how much you have achieved! :o (I'll try and get to the end by the weekend!)

Best wishes,

Robin
