Just bought one on the way home from Spain last night, 199 euros. Its about 7" x 2" x 2" with an inbuilt lithium battery. Can't believe something so small makes such great sound - really clear and defined across the range.
You connect to a blue tooth source or by AUX input
really easy to sync, works straight away and the sound is amazing. Perfect for boat or home, so small easy to take with you.

Got the Soundlink and I absolutely agree...it's great sound quality. Place it against a wall and it's even better. Had mine a few years now with no grumbles until yesterday when the bluetooth link seems to be a bit wobbly and distorting the sound significantly to the point I have to switch it off. :(. I'm not certain it's the bluetooth link, that's just my guess. Could be loose wiring.

I bought myself a Soundlink Mini for Christmas, and sang its praises on a thread here. Quite amazing and worth every penny.

I bought a JBL Flip at the same time for £50 as it was the closest competitor for its size, but rather than have one at home and one on the boat, I carry the Bose around and hardly use the JBL.

I don't know why audiophiles knock Bose - I've had reasonably high end hifi and speakers, and the Bose stuff I've heard sounds just as good.

+1 for the Soundlink Mini, as I use mine at home and on the boat, and the sound is amazing for the size of the speaker!

Have had a Bose Soundlink for a couple of years and it is excellent, use all around the boat using the bluetooth and when watching a DVD plug it into the headphone socket on the tv for a real home cinema experience.
Wish you could connect more than one soundlink to one device via bluetooth as a few of our friends have them.

+1

I have had my mini for a week now, it's fabulous ...put it 6in to a foot from a wall an the bass it shoots out th back fills a room (or a cabin!)

Positive feedback, but does any 'Bluetooth' connected device not have limited data speed that therefore limits the detail of the sound waves? Reading the enthusiastic responses suggest not, but is that correct? Perhaps I had mistakenly understood Bluetooth was not fast enough for true hi-fi and that cable connection was better. A practical myth?

also concerned.
However, there's lots of clever compression going on, so (in theory) what gets shifted across from the source to the speaker is enough to recreate a decent sound image.
Never ever bought a Bose thing, rather stick to valve amps, but I may have to go and listen to them since BT will be the main source of music (through smartphones) there...

I bought a Cambridge Audio Minx, which also has a great sound for its size, and amazing battery life so it'll work all day on the boat, then recharge overnight. It's not true audiophile sound of course, and neither is the Bose, but its very impressive for its size and £100 cost.

I dont know the answer, but I never really worried about true hifi and other audiophile stuff - if it sounds good to me, that's what matters. We have a Sainsburys mini BT speaker, a JBL Flip, and a Bose Mini... All do the job over BT, but the Bose sounds amazing for its size.

A cable connection might be better, but I can't tell, and the convenience of BT is worth having.

Can you play music off youtube via an ipad to the bose?
I fancy buying one but would like it to be able to do youtube streaming.

I don't see why not, as long as the ipad connects via bluetooth with the bose, even skype audio will be transmitted through it.

BTW, it would be V.NICE, if Bose would bother giving any specs for this device, like simple freq response, dynamic range, RMS output, graphs (all the typical things you check when you want to buy a pair of speakers)
FFS they don't even say if it's a STEREO device!

they've gone a step too far (imho)

I bought one of these today, thanks to this thread. iPad hooks up via Bluetooth, so any music, video, SkyGo you have on ipad will have a decent sound upgrade. Amazing bass for it's size, sound quality more better than to 22" TV speakers it's replacing. The Aux input won't accept a phono out from the TV, having to use the headphone out on TV but it will still do the job.
