I've had a new boom installed on Capricious to enable single line reefing. The old boom is available at a price to be determined - but probably not a lot! I think it's a Selden boom, but it has the name Kemp on it so I'm confused! It has two reefing lines and outhaul, and is in good order; it was replaced to allow full single line reefing. The foot of the sail is 3.51 m, so the boom is a foot or so longer than that. It was original equipment on my Moody 31 Mk 2 so it's not young, but it hasn't been subjected to any severe conditions. Photos later when I've got them from my phone!

And for some years before the final takeover, Selden owned 50% of Kemp so Selden spars sold in the UK were branded Kemp. Hence British built boats from that era with Selden / Kemp spars, like Capricious, have the Kemp branding.

Peter.
Selden took over kemp many years ago.
Thanks for the clarification - a bit of history I didn't know, and was a bit confused because I knew that riggers had referred to it as Selden.

That boat was never dirty when I looked after it ( 1991 )

Alas, I live further from her than you did, and I don't have small fry available to do that sort of job! Actually, with one thing and another - mainly fallout from my wife's death - I haven't had much chance to use her this year. I'm seriously thinking of bringing her back to Scotland, though.

Would be good to see her back up here (y)
