I have some rubber pads that need bonding onto the support plate on my beaching legs. They are under compression rather than any shear force but I need a suitable adhesive to hold them in place. Any thoughts or recommendations welcome thanks.

Sikaflex 291 or equivalent sounds like it might be OK. Everything else it touches doesn't seem to want to come off!

Possibly but I find it sticks to all the things you don’t want it too. I wondered about Sabatack as an alternative.

When bonding rubber to metal you really need a chemical bond which requires some preparation of the metal, you are not going to achieve that and the best you can hope for is a good mechanical bond which will require you to roughen both surfaces and most of the proprietary adhesives should then give an acceptable bond.

Is the rubber thick enough to counterbore and bolt on, at least they wont fall off at a later date.

Bostik 9252 primer is very good . Gives an excellent bond with rubber, hypalon, neoprene on stainless steel. Use the 2402 adhesive as normal once the primer is dry.it’s Used on lifeboats.

Are the beaching legs bolted to the hull through the pad or below it?
If through, then almost any glue should do.
If below, then you could use a double rubber pad. Attach the first rubber pad to the leg with glue and self tappers then bond the second pad to the first. Rubber to rubber bonding is easier than rubber to metal.
