Boiled Linseed/"Teak oil" or "Danish oil." Which is best?

Teak oil in chandlers contains Linseed oil that turns teak black with UV damage. Make absolutely sure that the teak oil in Wicks has no Linseed oil in it, if it's cheap it probably does. Pure teak oil is expensive but worth it.

None of it for use on a boat! Finish you brightwork with the proper stuff as sailorman suggests and forget about it for 5 years.

I think your right about the teak oil in Wicks having linseed oil in it.I shall check out the Danish oil in Wilko's & see if that has linseed oil in it as when I used their "Teak oil" it did result in my oak tiller turning grey.(their Danish oil is only about 8 quid a litre so I might stretch to that). Thanks

Wood skin is better imo

Five years dos'nt sound like much to shout about to me if you then have a lot of sandpapering to do which has been my experience with woodstain in the past.
I know the claims for woodskin are different but I still suspect that high maintenance may be involved besides, my main hatch has to be dyed because of the odd epoxy repair & I can't take advantage of the wonderful teak look.

PS:I have 2.5 litres of ALDI BAUFIX "Weatherproof Gel Wood Preserver" & that also makes the breathable claim.I wonder if it could possibly be the same stuff? It cost me about 8 quid if I remember rightly.
