When a screw hole that a screw has been removed from is slightly too big for a tight replacement shove a cable tie down the hole whilst replacing screw tighten and then trim cable tie. Works on my cabin sole screws ;-)

That's probably better than the traditional matchstick or cocktail stick (for the Champagne Charlies) in the modern synthetic age...

Add a dab of epoxy/ araldite to the hole & oil the screw (if it ever may need to be removed again) to make a stronger longer lasting repair - if needed.
