I noticed this the other day,
bobstay fitting 2.jpg

I'm fairly sure there shouldn't be a gap there?

That got me wondering how its attached? is it just bonded to the bow? I couldn't see any through bolts.

This is my westerly longbow ketch, is it a problem and if so what's the best approach?

Thanks

Just a pure guess, but has it got studs welded on its back face and a rubber gasket facing it to the stem? Look for stud ends and nuts on the inside. One thing's for sure, it ain't just glued to the bow.

Agree that there is most likely a stud welded on the back so you should find the nut on the inside and check that. For peace of mind I would remove the fitting from the hull to make sure there are no cracks, corrosion, obvious permanent distortion or deterioration of any backing pad before resealing and tightening.
