So Otium, our Sealine 365) will soon escape the non-tidal Thames and head (on a truck) down to South Dock in London to get craned in.
We've been working through the list of jobs from the surveyor.
Electric panels all tested and working
hatches now water tight
batteries sorted out
engines serviced
bilge pump replaced
CO detector fitted,
And a lot of cleaning done, the old boat smell is diminishing.
Come Wednesday, whilst we lift, we are replacing a thru-hull, getting a partial service on the outdrives (can't do a full one as the marina has insufficient props, insufficient space, and apparently won't be able to do anything for a month) (Is "not able to do anything for a month" a non-tidal mantra?)
We'll get some new antifoul on her too.
One or two things still puzzling us, but at least we worked out the valves system for the toilet/holding tank.
Next is to work out why all the diesel is going from the aft fuel tank into the forward one.
There is no balance pipe so I am guessing the valves for the fuel control are sucking from the aft tank and returniong to the forward while we have been running the engines.
Aft now reading near empty while the forward is near full. When we got the boat the forward tank was 2/3 full and the after tank 1/4 full/ We have run the engines for 4-5 hours or more in the absence of shore power to charge batteries etc.
Any advice on balancing teh fuel would be welcome!
The next collection of beer tokens to be wrenched from my hands will be on the interior. We want to rearrange the aft berth from transvers singles to fore and aft queen, and redo the galley cabinets. The shelves are great but we want new cabinets or recycled old ones and a new counter top.
SWMBO wants a dishwasher - we have a small counter top one (a 500mm cube) that will fit, with some mods, and we want to reorganise the storage a bit. Plan to keep the nifty booze holder
We also want some other bits and pieces done.
Anyone suggest a good chippy. well cabinet maker in East London, who won't bankrupt me?
cheers
Nick
